i've always wondered this myself. i'm not sure if honda set up the front suspension differently to account for the driver being on the right side instead of the left. it should be pretty much the same though.

98+ spec JDM suspension is unique to that market, they changed the spring rates and dampening a little which coincided with the increased diameter wheels
I don't know if LHD markets got slightly differently balanced stuff to RHD, I always wondered that too

Wow. I never knew that.
I always thought the rear sway bar was the only difference.
December 1999 - August 2008, and I never knew that, all this time.

Really? We've had threads on this before. Way more back in the day, but even recently I think we discussed this.
Going by memory:
-the rear springrates on the 98 Spec R and USDM ITR are the same
-the front springrates are slightly heavier on the 98 Spec R due to wheels, heavier front end, etc
-front swaybar the same
-rear swaybar is 1mm thicker on 98 Spec R
-rear upper control arms on 98 Spec R are a bit shorter (slightly more camber) and are also not the stamped pieces that the USDM ITR gets. This was a popular upgrade back in the day for some odd reason
As far as shock valving...I have no idea. I'm not sure it was ever established if it was different from 98 Spec R to the USDM models or not. I believe shock part numbers were different, though.

yea, the dampers are valved differently too.
if I could be bothered to watch Type-R Legend I would post up the results, might do it this evening

Werd, the differences between 96 and 98 spec were in the vid.

also the jdm springs, both 96 and 98 spec, appear to be shorter than the usdm's, as well as having different colored paint marks
that is a good question. hmm.... only thing i know that is different is the 32mm axles (US) and 36mm axles (JDM). other than that im under the impression that the suspensions are the same. dont remember the specs on the type Rx.
and also you have differences from the 96 spec and 98 spec JDM ITR.

Yeah, front sway is larger, 25mm JDM vs 24mm USDM. I forgot about that because hardly anyone upgrades their front swaybars on this chassis
I still find it amazing that Honda sent different ITRs to different parts of the world and hardly any of them were the same, even down to such detail as springrates.
