Chassis code list?
Okay, so it confuses me more than anything when i see a car on H-T think its one thing, but people say its another. For example, in this thread --> https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/2358881, someone says "NOFX you have an ek if im not mistaken....correct?" to which NOFX replies "I have a '98 EJ8 coupe." This makes me feeling lost haha
I was just wondering if there was a list somewhere that i can look at to see what cars belong with what chassis codes like EK4, EK9 EJ6, EG and so on and so forth. That way i wont be as confused anymore.
By the way, i drive a 97 Civic DX hatch, so whats its code??

search NOFX actually. she has a full post containing the codes for most new hondas in most countries. basically the EG and EK we know are from japan. here they are EH and EJ respectively.

Oh, well he said all of us, not some of us. And I was already in the thread and used as an example in the first post. Then he used the same year as I had mentioned. So it made it sound like he was calling me a ricer and my car a piece of ****.
I also don't think peopel call their EJs EKs so that they seem more JDM. I think they call them EKs because they see others call their very similar cars the same thing, so they figure their car is an EK too even though neither car is. They just don't know any better and I suppose they had no reason to doubt the information because they didn't realize it was stamped right on their car.

It's sad through all this bullshit, nobody actually gave you a real answer.
The problem is, on H-T, that people have this stupid mentality, JDM or not really doesn't matter.
On Honda-Tech, '92-'95 (5th gen) civics are commonly referred to as "EG's", while '96-'00 (6th gen) civics are commonly referred to as "EK's" - this SHOULD tie in with ACTUAL chassis codes like NOFX posted, but it kinda doesn't, really.
When a person says something like "where can I get a CF hatch for an EK" - they mean "where can I get a CF hatch for a '96-'00 civic." They improperly use the terms all the time here, so it's accepted as a norm.
This guy said it best:

That's it, people rather call their cars "EG's" and "EK's" even though they're NOT as A) A quick reference to certain generation civics (EF = common slang for 4th generation civics), and B) They're idiots.
These are the same people that refer to their sedans as a "Ferio" - which was what it was called in Japan. It's a [freak]ing sedan, let 'em be happy with that.
Ignore them, get your real chassis code off of what NOFX provided and use that. Don't join into the useless JDM bullshit slang that people use on H-T.
My '95 Civic was an EJ1.
My '97 Civic is an EJ8.
Though people around H-T could commonly refer to it as:
My '95 EG coupe
My '97 EK coupe
Wrong, but you get the picture.

In terms of people using EF/EG/EK I think it has more to do with laziness than people trying to look mad jdm. People know if they say EG 99% of people on H-T are going to know they mean '92 - '95 civic. If they said EJ1 it would give some of us more info, other people would be completely lost. Its not right or correct, but its probably not going to change. H-T doesn't really help things a whole lot by using JDM chassis codes on the main page either.

The only problem I see with that is a lot of times people are asking questions where the year or the body really matters.
Then again, probably just as often, if not more, I see people making threads with questions and nothing is mentioned about what the car is at all. No year, trim, body, nothing.
