Default Fluctuating Tachometer as I increase speed

In all gears, the tachometer fluctuates rapidly and then climbs through RPMs normally. Just for a few instances needle fluctuates. No motor or decrease in power is noted. What could be the problem?
1999 honda prelude. Fixed clutch and flywheel recently. Rotor, cap, wires, and plugs new.

there is a blue wire from the dizzy that sends the signal to the tach.

If the motor sounds normal it might just be this wire.

Open up the dizzy and look for where it connects to the ignitor, maybe it just came loose and you can just reattach it.

And check your grounds. You can also try hooking up a tach to the blue tester wire under the hood to see if it's the tachometer fault or an electrical problem.

Could be a voltage regulator in your alt going out.

Thank you guys for your comments. When I changed the rotor and cap, I loosened the signal wire to my Tach. Pinched the wire and replaced it. Works perfect.

Thanks for the information. I check the signal wire after I changed the cap and rotor. You were right. Loose wiring. Thanks.

In that case you chould just check charging voltage and see if it flucuates alot.

It could be the tdc sensor inside the dist. The ignitor uses it to judge rpm. Then it sends the signal to the tach. If you can find a dizzy somewhere sway them out see if that fixes it.
