How hot does your oil temp gauge reading say while driving?
Im trying to figure out at what temps am i ok to keep driving with and the temps are normal. And at what temps should I be concerned with while driving.
I have a Autometer oil temp gauge that I believe goes from 180 degrees F to 300 Degrees F. Once my car has been driven for a good while my needle is usually around 230 or so. It's never been over 240, but then again the longest Ive really driven the car is maybe an hour at one given time.
Is this ok, normal? something to worry about?
As a side note, my water temperature is still the same as it was when I was all motor...so all is good there.

yeah thats fine the cooler you can get it the better off the car will be .If you can keep it around 200 degress with an oil cooler that would be benefical to long term engine life.
Should I be worried if I take a trip out of town? Say to Florida..about 6 hours. should the temps stay pretty level at 230 degrees...or would they go even higher if the car is continously ran for that long?
drove my turbo LS 12 hrs to St paul over the holiday.. the trip there, we did it over night so the temps were normal, its only during the hot humid day time on the hwy, did the gauges move up a bit.. but i solved that by turning the temp to hot to let the coolant circulate in the heater core..
