Default Timing belt and water pump Price

I am thinking about having the timing belt and water pump changed in my accord 2002 lx and would like to know how much it will cost me including labor. I had my first quote for 500 dollars and something . This is from a honda dealer. Thank you.

That's the dealer price, but if you get it done at local shop, parts break down to this.

Belts-----$60.00
Water Pump----$40.00
Coolant-------$30-35.00
Labor---------Depends on how long, normally 4-5 hrs.

thanks for the reply mongtite. I was thinking of buying the parts online and then call a local shop to do it or have them do it at price less than $400. I guess $500 and something is kind of rip off

Are you having all the belts and pump changed...and tensioner too? A dealer wanted 600 dollars from my grandma to change a radiator from a 10 yrs old car. For 500, a non dealer shop should be able to change all the belts and pump and you would still have some money left over.

If you wants to buy cheap Honda parts go here. I recently bought a water pump, timing belt, and the seals for the water pump.

Total of 106 dollars in parts. I may be off by 1-5 dollars.

Heres the site.

Call a local mechanic and ask him how much for the parts and labor. He'll tell you the figures and then you ask him for his name, tell him your name, tell him that you already bought the parts and that you will pay the $____ for the labor. He'll be screwed and you'll save money. Good luck

prices sound inline, but go with factory parts not aftermarket.
