I agree forget the ZC and B16 and just get at least a B18A,C1 or C5. I have a partly built ZC and its alright, the fastest I ever ran was a 16 second flat....

that is a really bad time. i have a stock ZC in a semi gutted civic hatch and i ran a 15.5 with a 2.5 60' time...

zc for all motor isnt something many people do... most people who have zc's upgrade to b series or turbo the zc...

If you compare the dyno plot of the zc vs the b16, they are almost the same until the b16 gets to around 6k+ rpm and the vtec eats the zc up...

16 flat..no comment, go b-series if you want to go fast, if you want to waste money to be "different" stay zc/d-series.

put it on the dyno so you can see if you should rule out driver error.

my freshly rebuilt ZC with 2.25" exhaust and a lightened by 2lbs stock flywheel put out 117whp and 98 ft-lbs. use those numbers for comparison.

well...
my friend once build a ZC NA that ran 11.9 or close ot there ....... shitload of parts and work. and a lot of weight reduction....
with the 100 shot he ran 10.4 as the best time ever....without the rollcage....
but those motors are really good...just gotta know how to tune and work with them...

im thinking of really building mine over the winter. which parts would i need to use(i.e. valves, springs retainers, pistons, rods, blockguard, etc.). would using b-series integra valves, springs, retainers work? would probably need a d-series block guard and pistons. any info would be gladly appriciated!!!

I don't think its driver error unless he's letting off on the top end. He posted a timeslip and it just looks like he's not making power. Low MPH everywhere . Get that thing on the dyno for sure. You'd be suprised at what air/fuel tuning can do. Also, how much does that thing weigh? If it weighs like 2500lbs+ then your times arent suprising.
