are all D-Series Oil pans the same?

Why would you post that?
There are a number of different D series oil pans, and the specific pans in question are NOT the same, nor do they even take the same pan gasket.
Some 96-up D pans are aluminum and have a recessed groove that the gasket sits down in, while the 92-95 pans are all steel and have a flat gasket area with raised dimples.
I just encountered last weekend a monumental difference between a D16A6 89 Si oil pan and a D16A6 90 4WD wagon pan - same gasket, but only the 4WD pan has a special indention to clear the 4WD transfer case! Had to pull the engine back out and swap pans because it wouldn't line up!

Part number for a 1997 Civic DX pan (D16Y7 engine) is 11200-P2E-000
Part number for a 1995 Civic DX pan (D15B7 engine) is 11200-P08-020
I don't believe the seating surface is the same, nor is the kicked-out area fopr the sump/pick-up tube.
I can't be 100% but the difference in the part numbers for both the pan and gasket on both accounts leads me to believe they are not interchangable.
BTW:
I'm not saying part number differences alone can tell us they're not interchangable. 92-00 Civic EX head gaskets are the same, yet the 92-95 version has a different part number and even costs $30.00 more, but it's the same gasket and either works on either engine.
It's just that in this case I can't be 100% unless I had both pans side by side, and Honda doesn't typically waste extra part numbers on pan gaskets - example - P30 pan gasket fits all B series from 1990-2001, VTEC, non-VTEC, etc.

not really too familar with the d's.
the pans definitely look very close to the same.</TD></TR></TABLE>
if you're not too familar or do not know 100% then don't post guesses.
they are not the same. they do not line up. now that I have taken both off and made a trip to the parts store to figure that out.
