Alright so the other day I was experimenting with vtec. In first gear I was trying to crack tec with the gas pedal engaged probably only 30-40% barley around half throttle. I wrapped it up to where my tec usually cracks open at, but nothing.. No crossover. My question is, does the position of your gas pedal have anything to do with how hard your tec cracks?

 

Honda's VTEC system is a simple method of endowing the engine with multiple camshaft profiles optimized for low and high RPM operations. Instead of one cam lobe actuating each valve, there are two: one optimized for low-RPM stability & fuel efficiency; the other designed to maximize high-RPM power output. Switching between the two cam lobes is controlled by the ECU which takes account of engine oil pressure, engine temperature, vehicle speed, engine speed and throttle position. Using these inputs, the ECU is programmed to switch from the low lift to the high lift cam lobes when the conditions mean that engine output will be improved.

I agree, to the OP your post could have been worded in a more intelligent way but whatever I'm not judging you.

Yes throttle position can determine whether vtec engages or not.

 

Oh, I was going to be an *** and comment on crackin and tec but I had wikipedia open in another window so I just brought it up and copy paste.

 

Maybe you should try to crack the tec harder

 

crack the TB wide open.

 

yeah crank dat solja boy harder i guess.....

 

If your tec don't crack, wrap it up harder.
