Default transmission gearing question.

ok guys heres the deal im trying to build a transmission with all the parts i got. short 1-4 and a long 5th for better gas mileage

i got
1 complete cable b16
1 complete Hydro LS
1 GSR gearset (teeth screwed up on mainshaft)
1 cable b16 gear set. (not too good of shape)

now im using the Hydro LS casing to build this tranny.
I was wanting the b16 1-4 with LS 5th and using the b16 main shafts and final drive. but i found out i cant use the cable b16 ring gear on a obx diff.

So can i use LS main shafts with b16 1-4th gears and LS 5th? use the hydro LS ring gear i got on a obx diff...

pretty much my questions are
Can you run cable b16 1-4 on hydro LS main shaft?
and I'm pretty sure i just cant run LS ring gear with the b16 main shafts cause the teeth's are different.

What other options do you think i have?

Cable B16 gears will not work, including the final drive.

1/2 is built into the mainshaft.

i have a gsr ring gear if you want to make use of that obx lsd. depending which cable b16 tranny and gearset you have, you might be able to make use of the parts. because if it's the same splines count on the input shaft as the hydro, you can swap and use those b16 gears.

Won't work. Cable B16's are bastards.

well i should be able to run b16 shafts with b16 1-4th and ls5th in a hydro casing if i get a hydro gs-r/b16 ring gear tho right. like i was originally planning on. worst comes to worst. ill fix the bearing on the ls shaft and put it in my teg and rebuild the hydro gs-r thats in it now. was hoping to just do it all with what i had already. with as little downtime as possible.

You can't run the cable shafts in the hydro case. You can't mix and match a countershaft and ring gear from two different transmissions.

i've done it many times...with gsr and b16 cable guts into a hydro casing. why isn't it supposed to work? not trying to argue, but i've never had issues. and what are you talking about you can't mix and match ring and pinions? ...like you can use a 90-91 cable ls ring (66)with a 4.40 pinion and it's a identical dimensional b16 final drive...even the diff can be used in a cable or hydro trans case.

Which cable B16? Y1 uses small sliders so the shift forks won't work. Parts might be identical (ring gear) but it isn't good to mix and match sets. Gears wear in together.
