The LS/VTEC conversion combines the low end torque of the LS with the high revving potential of the GSR. I have done this conversion on a few cars that have come into my shop. It is a very difficult job to do and if it is not done right, the motor can be severely damaged. It's advantages are that it now gives the motor powerful low end torque and also has VTEC which enables it to be one hell of a setup. LS's that I have done this for have easily spanked ITR's and one guy with many more mods and great driving beat a Camaro Z28. Those are the pro's. The con's can be a huge headache. I will be the first to admit it is not reliable in the least bit. Simply because the engine wasn't made for it. It will require frequent maintenance and money to keep the motor running well. In my opinion, if you have the money and desire for it, then go for it and make sure it is done right. If it was me though, I'd go turbo.
