Default obd0 b16 in 92 civic hatch, Help!

I was one who thought the cost of an obd1 engine would be greater than the headache of installing an obd0 engine.

I have the engine in and it idles great and rev's like a dream when the car is in neutral, it's been timed and scanned. I have two different ECUs I've tried, a 92-93 integra P61, and a chipped P30. It runs great in the VTEC on the P30 and spark knocks in the VTEC on the P61. It maybe just a bit better from idle to VTEC on the P61.

Anyway my real problem is that the car misses pretty badly from about 2000rpm to VTEC engagement? The only code the computer throws is something about the idle air control valve. Oh, the motor is converted to obd1, electronics wise.

Any sugestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Does your car throw the check engine light as soon as it starts to miss? If it does the first thing you should try cleaning the IAC valve if you can. If that doesnt work you might just have to replace it.

It throws the light after I beat on it for awhile usually. But sometimes it comes on right away. Do you think that could be the problem alltogether , just that stupid control valve. I don't even know if I have the right one on it. I used the one off of the engine that was in the car a D15z1.

i dont think that the computer would set an IAC light unless there was something wrong with the IAC valve. What computer is throwing the check engine light?
definitely start out with cleaning if not replacing your IAC valve. if you clean it up and it still doent work try replacing it with a newer one. It depends on the setup.

An IACV will mostly afect the idle quality more so than drivability, power output, etc.

Did you happen to install a timing belt on this swapped in engine?

I'm wondering if the timing belt is off a tooth or two.

Do you know how to check the timing belt timing?

Set the crankshaft to TDC by lining up the single white mark with the lower timing cover timing pointer.

Remove the valvecover (or if yours is cut to see cam gears look at them) and check to see if both cam gears have the "UP" engraving pointing straight upo, and then make sure the timing marks on the gears are pointing straight at each other. On the intake cam the mark will be in the 9 o'clock position, and the exhaust cam's mark will be in the 3 o'clock position, and they need to be lined up with each other.
