looking for info to do a d16/d15 to 1.7 head swap.

when I purchased my hatch I got a bundle of parts to do a 1.7 conversion. just curious as to how much I am missing

Ive ran thru the stickies all I could find was general info in complete dseries swaps


if nothing else just point me to the right thread with this info if u dont want to write it

I can't say i have ever heard of anyone doing this particular swap, i'm even willing to go so far as to say i don't think that head will mate to that block, but i could be wrong on that.

 

This is the first time I have ever even heard of this swap being attempted. I think D17 heads are from 2001 and up? I'm not sure either that they will mate, but free bump for you for more info.

 

yea its off an 01... I heard rumors off the swap, calling it another style of "mini me" but I havent found anything on it.? I dont know. I tried to pull 1.5 1.6 & 1.7 head gaskets at my other job and compare but we dont have some avail! damn Oreillys.

Are you refering to the D17A series motors from 2001-2005 civics?

If so... no, they arent very compatible with 92-00 D-series motors.
Plus, D17 heads dont even have distributors, the ignition is part of the harness on those cars, so a 1.7 head (if thats the D17 head your refering to) is totally out of the question. D17 motors are turds to begin with, its the blunt truth.

 

hmmmmm. yea I know they are turds. when I bought my hatch it came with 1.7 head fuel rail ecu intake and few other goodies and a complete b18b which I am building. and the guy told me and swore up and down that a d15/16 to 1.7 head swap was possible. I didnt know at all
