timing off in my 1984 civic hatchabck dx
the timing is off in my civic and i dont know how to fix it its off so much where it wont start and i cant use a timing light without it started andyone wanna give me some tips on how to fix it
Ignition timing does not just go off all by itself. I bet your timing belt has slipped. If it has, you need to change the timing belt and the water pump.
Check your cam timing first (Service Manual) then check your ignition timing. Buy a timing light (less than $30) or borrow one from AutoZone.

Cam timing is your problem. Both the cam and the crank have a "key" that needs to be at 12 o'clock when the engine is at TDC. Get that squared away and your problem is solved.
