alignment w/ 26" slicks
i had my hotrod car on 2 differant alignment racks this year already. the 1st time, i did it with no front end on the car, and the 2nd time i had the front on it.
the 1st time, the front tires looked to have major tow out, and after putting the front end on the car, i realized the car needed to be raised up another 1.5 inches or so, thus throwing the alignment off
the 2nd time we aligned the car, at ride hight, with the front on the car... after taking it to the track, the car pulled hard to the right. bring it back into the pit, get out the tape measure (measure front and back side of front tires at the same hight) the car had major tow in...
and also found out the alignment place did not know how to tighten jam nuts on radius rods
we adjusted the tow, to about 1/8inch out, the car went very straight on the next pass...

thanks for your input guys, i have alignd cars with the machine before with just the stock rims on the front instead of slicks and have no issues. but with 26's im wondering if its going to cause an issue on the machine?

I've used steel rims and race wheels, 13's or 15's.. if its straight on one wheel, it should be straight with others.. unless the rim is wicked bent.

thats kinda what i was thinking if i align it with stock rims as long as the toe is set right then once the slicks are on its shouldent make a diffrence the steering will still be straight correct me if im wrong i just dont want to casue any problems at 150+mph
correct, most alignment places i have dealt with want street wheels/tires on the car when aligning to make it easier to work with and once the alignment is set even with street wheels/tires the settings will be exactly the same for any rim/tire combo you put onto the vehicle (even different tire sizes)
we have some 235/60/15 BFG Drag Radials that we put on the car when towing it and sitting around the shop that we do the alignments with, take them off, put the 24.5s or 26s on the car and all settings are the same
