Hi, I would like to primer my car but first i have to sand it down. Does anyone know what grain sand paper i should use? thanks!

That depends if you have to do body work or if your just wanting to scuff it for paint prep? If your good to go on body you can just use Scotch-Brite Red scuff pads available at any paint store. These will scuff the body to get it ready for primer. After that for any imperfections use 150 autobody paper and then 320 for finish sanding before paint.

 

scotch brite to scuff off the clear coat good, then primer.

 

I also heard that it's a good idea to use a cleaning solvent to remove any of the wax/clear coat that may get trapped in the paint when you sand.
