Default Questions on my 96 type r motor

Im sorry if im posting this in the wrong forum and if it is just let me know and ill post it in another. My question is i have a 96 type r motor in my civic and it needs a rebuild BAD and im looking into just doing a stock build. Everything i see on the internet is 97-01 type r things like upper and lower gasket kits and things like this. whats the basic motor diff between the 96 through the 97-01 years? can i use anything off any year type r? thanks for everyones time...
