so i open up my hood to check my oil level and i notice dried up muddy/rusty water around the front of my motor. It looks like its dripping out of the upper radiator hose right where it goes into the block(water pump im assuming) and a small leak around the hose where it connects with the radiator. The resivoir is almost dry. The car doesnt over heat and the fan works fine. it has been off for about an hour and the upper hose is warm still and the lower has cooled off some but just near the radiator.

i have an h22a 5spd in an eg....stock radiator. is it time for a mishimoto???

 

cooled down enough to take the rad cap off and its slap full with good looking coolant?...?...? squeezing on the upper hose makes the level in the rad rise. its been off for about 2 hrs now. i think my upper hose is shot

 

replace the hose and get back with us. it's prolly just the hose. the water pump is driven by the timing belt on the back of the black on the other side so it's definitely not that. your car would probably be overheating if your water pump was dead. usually the stock radiator will leak somewhere on the top because it's plastic.

 

Your coolant hoses don't go anywhere near the water pump. Coolant travels along the back of your block in that metal coolant tube between the thermo housing and the water pump.

Where the upper hoes goes in to the block is your front water neck. Remove it(two 10mm bolts I think), and replace the gasket or use permatex. Should fix your problem.

If you're using a civic rad and prelude hoses, then you may be pissing coolant from where the hoses connect to the radiator due to prelude hoses being bigger than civic hoses. There's several fixes for this, a simple search should yield plenty of answers on this.
