Default Stiff gear lever (auto) in D,2,1

I've a 2002 Cr-V automatic with 75k miles

In the last week or so my gear lever has become stiff in D,2 and if i can get to it, 1. It a sudden development, not something over time.

My last service included gearbox fluid change so my thoughts are linkage.

Had a quick look underneath and can't see where the linkage enters the gearbox.

Any advice/ideas/theories appreciated

Steven

If it was flushed, there should have been no reason to even go near the linkage, the cooler lines are up front.

Something could have burned through the shift cable. If I remember correctly, the cable runs right over top of the catalyst.

If you've had your car in for exhaust, I would make a note of that, sometimes people are careless with the torch. The heat covers on the catalyst rust off and make noise, and most places will torch them off, and hit the cable, causing it to seize.
