h23 stuck head bolt NEED HELP

Default h23 stuck head bolt NEED HELP

i'm trying to take the head off my 93 h23 and two of the head bolts are stuck and the more i try to loosen them the more it starts to round out the bolt.....any help would be great

no i was using a normal one and it started to do that so i switched to a 12 point but it just started to do the same thing so now i'm completely clueless as to how to get this off with out really [freak]ing them up

Happened to me recently...I had to take my head and block to the machine shop to have the head bolt drilled out. Oh well....ARP it is now

go to your local store and get an extractor set, it'll probably be cheaper than any machine shop, and the extractor sockets are sweet to have on hand for the next stubborn bolt you come across.

oops reread the thread. 14mm 6 pt was what you needed. but yeah that set is good up there, sears has em. but thing with them is that they're not designed for the deepness of the bolt so you're gonna have to weld it onto an extension or somethign for it to fit.

When working on older cars/motors I almost always use PB blaster before trying to break bolts loose. Much less head aches.

If there is enough of the bolt sticking out you could try as a last resort to cut the head off the bolt then double nut it and draw it out with a 6 point deep socket to get more surface area and new nut surfaces to torque on.

my craftsman bolt-outs took on lower main bolts, after breaking 3 sockets, all craftsman, so they're tough enough for it, if you can get it down in there, thats your solution
