Default clutch!! need some info.

i am now for the first time working on my clutch for my 89 rex si.
i have no knowledge about crxs. and ive searched not only on ht but also other honda forums.

i have a d16a6.

and im wondering if any other clutch set will fit on it. ive went to my local auto parts store and they alkl said that they have to special order them for that year.

again im thinking if a 95 civic ex clutch set will fit in there or any other d series will.

any info?
and please no negative remarks about searching or anything else.

thank you in advance.

unless you change the flywheel to a 90 and up, 89 is the only clutch that will work

All D16 clutches will fit. You're buying the clutch for the transmission, not the motor. They all have the same input shafts.

Doesn't the 1988 have a different input shaft?

Yes the 88 have 21 spline count. The 89 has 20 splines but it's flywheel diameter is smaller overalland can only take 89 clutches . And the 90-91 flywheels are bigger, have 20 splines, and can accept 1990-2000 clutches.

well im not only getting a clutch and pressure plate but also a flywheel, and im not trying to get a 4 puck or 6 puck on a stock motor, which i think would be pointless for daily driving.

ive taken a look at that file from GLI and it only talks about crxs. but what about 92-95 civics? will that fit on an d16a6 motors? does 92-95 civic have different splines?

read the LAST LINE of the pdf. reading pwns you. Sorry if i sound like an @$$, but I took the time to read it and everything you are asking is right there.

since you have a 89 no it won't unless you SWITCH to a 90+ flywheel.
