AP1 and AP2 clutch the same?
clutch is same, flywheel is different

Edit - Upon further research, it shows different part numbers for the clutches in 00-01, 02-04+. So same clutch in 00-01, then different one in 02+

The '02+ clutch fits the earlier cars. The clutch was re-designed to eliminate clutch chatter/buzzing. There is a TSB that was issued for that problem and the new clutch it the solution.

but i think the 04s have a certain type of delay in the clutch that makes it feel like its slipping or something.

After talking to Comptech about the 06 S2K, they said that the stock clutch on the 06 starts to feel sloppy if you drive it hard on the track or what not, but then because of it's material will go back to feeling the same after the car has cooled down. I'm not sure if this is the same for the older model S2Ks.
clutch delay valve which is not part of the clutch, its the slave cylinder

It is generally considered a bad thing. It is a valve in the master cylinder designed to soften the blow from a clutch drop...it more slowly re-engages the clutch. It is fairly easy to remove however. Look on s2ki for instructions...probably in "under the hood".
Fairly easy? I've done two, and it takes quite a bit of picking. Another member just opted for the AP1 cylinder.
Removing valve: About an hour
Swapping slaves: half hour, way less frustration.

Guess it is subjective. It is easier than installing a Hondata intake gasket but more difficult than changing your oil.
But an hour isn't all that much time for a mod...and picking is cheaper than swapping.
BTW...Aaron doesn't have an ap2...he has an Evo and the Spec Miata.

Subjective, exactly. And it is easier than tearing off an IM.
He's been doin the Spec Miata thing, but I love seeing him driving Rylan's AP2.
