Default What could this do to a clutch?

Ok my first run ever at the track I was pretty nervous. When the lights turned green I launched and then I had a great deal of wheelspin, or what I at least THOUGHT was wheelspin. So I shifted to second and same thing, 3rd same thing, It was as if I had no traction whatsoever. Then the smell hit me. it was the smell of hot clutch. In all my nervousness I realized that I had not let the clutch pedal out fully and I had been slightly riding my clutch full throttle through 2nd-3rd. Anyway, I made two more passes down the track and my clutch seemed to be alright, chirped 2nd gear etc. Anyways, did I seriously mess anything up by doing this or did I just put some more wear on my clutch disk?

Well if you say it still drives fine with no slippage, then don't worry about it. If your clutch is pretty new, and you don't have a lot of power running through it, then it could have survived a little battered, but still there.

Don't worry about it. Ever see a Top Fuel car after a run. Their clutches are glowing red by the end of the strip. Assuming you have a OEM clutch, the materials are very similar to brakes. You can smoke it a number of times before it's ruined. When it is, you'll know...

How would I know if my clutch is totally ruined?

rpms will go up, but your car won't move.

if it stops working
if it's catching and not slipping, it's business as usuall. if it stops gripping or slides all over the place when you let it out at partial throttle, you should get mommy and daddy to buy you a new one.
