Default HELP! greddy 15g spool, something aint right

My rig - 95 civic ex d16, greddy 15g turbo kit, at stock 5psi, OEM exhaust, stock injectors, cometic head gasket, arp studs,
FMIC , SSQV BOV

Here's the deal -
When stopped in neutral, rev it up over 7000+, no spool, zero psi on boost gauge. (dosn't seem right to me_maybe it is?)

1st gear taking off, a little boost if im lucky "maybe" 1-2 psi at 7000+, BOV sputters, coughs.
2nd gear full 5 psi boost at about 5500-6500 (varies) all the way up, 50% of the time good PSSSHHH BOV sound, otherwise sputters.
3rd gear full 5 psi at 5500 up, pulling good now, good BOV sound.
4th gear full 5psi at 5500 up, still pulling good, good BOV sound.
5th - same as 4th.

So my questions are
1 - why does the car's weight load need to be on my engine to create spool?
2 - where is my 1st and 2nd gear spool?
3 - what should I be checking, because something aint right amigo.

I have checked for Boost leaks - I used nice clamps, and hairspray to help. How tight should these F'ing clamps be?
also I experienced the same type of turbo response before I added the FMIC and piping.

Any and all thoughts appreciated! Thanks!

Sounds like you have a boost leak somewhere. You should see the turbo spool at least 1k faster, maybe more. The problem you also have is tuning. If your car is leaning out like I suspect, you aren't putting enough energy into the exhaust to spool the turbo well either. The stock exhaust is also going to hurt your spool time. Any restriction after the turbo will reduce max power & spool time.

The lack of boost in neutral is normal. Unless you have a very tiny turbo, you won't see much, if any boost. One reason you need a load is because the engine revs faster than the turbo can move the air. Its hard to explain, just know its not normal for most aftermarket turbo kits to make boost just by revving.

doesnt the greddy kit come with like 310cc injectors...why are you running stock ones when the emanage or blue blox is "pretuned" for bigger injectors?

Yeah, the 96-2000 civic greddy kit comes with bigger injectors, but the 92-95 kit doesn't. Cheap *** kit I guess.
I was told my injectors were plenty big enough for 5 psi.
I do want bigger injectors so I can raise my boost, but thats more $$ of course...

hmmm, Maybe its time I buy some new exhaust. I don;t want it loud though, I like it to be a sleeper. maybe look at some injectors too... Damn,,, thats going to hurt mileage isnt it?

Hmm, when I get home i'm going to drop my cat and run the downpipe to see what happens.
Of course the greddy downpipe is only 2"... sigh..

30 mpg on 880 injectors, thats not bad at all!

Im running the emangage bluebox, I want to drop $500 on a Hondata 300 at the local shop, the guy says he will help me street tune it and install it, but I need injectors so it is going to be almost a grand. guess I better start saving.

And your right, 5 psi aint doing much for me, I want a bit more.
thanks for the input

I'm using one step colder NGK plugs, and my plug gap is around 35
