2002 Civic Type r (ep3/k20A) with a problem! HELP!
Hello, i am new to this forum so please forgive me if its in the wrong place or not clear.
I have a problem with my car (as per title) idleing/ticking over. The car runs fine, smooth and powerful etc. Then the engine warning light comes on, and the car struggles to idle, the revs drop very low and go up and down, upto a maximum of 1k. Its been to my honda dealer and had the fault read, they replaced an 'ELD' sensor? Anyway, was fine for a few days and then, it all happened again...as before.
So, since then i have just been re-setting the ECU by disconnecting the battery for a couple minutes. It then when started, runs rough for a couple mins then seems to sort itself and run fine, as it should.
When fitting an AEM induction kit i noticed that the standard air pipe that comes off the throttle body to airbox was split, I thought this was it! The thing that was causing it.... But no, it all happened again today.
I have noticed that it seems to happen when the car is getting low on fuel, just before the petrol/gas low level light comes on. Would this sound feasable? Its just an idea, that i think is a trend in the problem?
Anyone else have any ideas, or past experience with this?
PLEASE HELP!
Thanks.
Jay

Honda installed the engine, its completely stock! My honda dealer found nothing apparently wrong with it. I'm the second owner and it has full honda history, i dont think its something not installed properly.
Just going out on a limb here, but mine had trouble idling once when the oil pressure was a little low, you could try checking your oil. I know it sucks not knowing whats wrong with it, but hopefully you'll figure somethin out. Goodluck.

Honda installed a JDM engine for you? If not, give us the full engine code please.

Lol...he has an actual Type R.
My suggestion would be to do a search on idle problems that have been covered in other threads on the forum. It could be a variety of things, and by doing a search, you should be able to use the site as a resource and narrow down your problem to something someone else has already seen.

Ok, took it to my local Jap tuning specialist today and have found the fault! It was one of the two lambda sensors on the car, the one on the 1st bank if that makes sense? Anyway its been confirmed with the code being read and seen on the diagnostic's during rolling road test. Sorted at last..... Oh and its making 202.3 BHP
