Default underhood heat

alright just a little question. after driving around for a bit i stop in at a tim hortins went and got a coffie and stuff. after that i had a smoke and drank my brew. after i thought id check my oil level poped my hood and MAN! felt so hot under there like i mean my themp gauge was reading perfect. i dunno how hot it is so pose to feel under there but i mean it was hot like pretty dam hot that u dident wonna touch nothing.. just curious is this normal to fell this hot

Yes... Its a fact that engines do indeed generate heat.

think about it this way depending on what your thermostat is. your engine is anywhere from 160 to 180 degrees.

by the way Tim Hortins has good coffee. Wife is from Mississauga.

Atleast you did not open the rad cap.

As stated above if you'd like it cooler upgrade your thermostat and rad cap and maybe flush your rad?It will always be hot but as long as your in the "safe zone'you should be ok bump for timmies

Get a carbon fiber hood, carbon fiber wont doesnt hold heat very well. A mugen thermostat will also help out, They sell for around 80-90 dollars I think.

You could also wrap you header to help keep the underhood heat down.

i have my downpipe rapped my turbo piping wrapped and have the hood raised in the back to try to lower the temperature but all doesnt seem to help much

just take the hood off

if he has a stock exhaust header does not really do much. I think actually it will help lead to cracking. I got told never wrap a stock header. Aftermarket fine but not sock cast iron headers.

A lower thermostat will not make a Engine run cooler, the thermostat would just open sooner..

Put some louvers in the hood
