Default Will it work? getting an obd2 ecu instead of getting converting harness

I'm using a 1998 civic ex (d16y8) engine harness for my 95 gsr swap. Was looking online, and i've found some conversion harness which convert your ecu from obd2 to obd1 for $90 at http://www.boomslang.us/obd2to1.htm Then i found out that some guy around the area is selling a 98 gsr ecu which is obd2 for $50. I"m just trying to save some money, so my question is, if i get the 98 gsr ecu instead of the conversion harness would i run into any trouble?

I would try to find a obd1 ecu that goes with the motor you want to swap in if it was me.

if your gonna go obd2 with a obd1 motor you gotta change the dizzy, altenator, and injector plugs because they are different and you also gotta put in a 2nd o2 sensor because the obd2 ecu will be looking for it and will throw a CEL

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by ltrkstr2k &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">if your gonna go obd2 with a obd1 motor you gotta change the dizzy, altenator, and injector plugs because they are different and you also gotta put in a 2nd o2 sensor because the obd2 ecu will be looking for it and will throw a CEL</TD></TR></TABLE>

Also you need a obd-2 oil pump, it has a crank position sensor.( I think thats the sensor it has.)

So i should probaly just stick with using the obd1 gsr ecu huh? Since i'm using a 98 ex harness which is obd2, i will have to change the dizzy, alternator and injector plugs all to obd2 for the ex harness to work, am i right? Do you think i'm better off just getting a 95 gsr wire harness instead of changing those parts. But then i'm not too sure if i get the 95 wire harness, will it bolt up to my chasis plugs?

if you are trying to save money then go with obd1 since you have everything you need for obd1 except jumper. Make sure you get obd2a to obd1 since you have a 1998 civic.
