I bought these from a HT member who I will keep anonymous until this is worked out, but these are supposed to be new unused konis. They dont look like it to me and shouldn't there be hardware as well?

Definite wear. Seems to be used.

I'd be pissed if someone sold me brand new never used shocks and they looked like that.

Did the for sale thread have any pics? Never buy without pics!

no pics but I figured it would be EZ to tell when I got them whether they were used and these without a doubt are. I contacted seller and will try to resolve. otherwise its going to be a paypal dispute. [freak]ing liars

Well from the pics, believe it or not, it's actually hard to tell if they've been driven on and actually used.

Someone could have bolted lower forks to them and scraped the paint off in the process, but that doesn't necessarily mean they were actually used. they're really, really clean to have been driven on. Shocks/struts clean up well, but that looks really clean.

Do you have pics of the actual wear part - the shafts?

BTW:

If those were used there would be definate wear marks on the shock body where the lower strut fork surrounds it and bolts to it - they look unused to me for this reason, based on your pics.

Don't be so quick to crucify the seller.

Yeah, it looks more like a test fit to me. If they were used the fork would have scraped the sides up quite a bit.

^^^^agreed, usually the pinch bolt scratches the shock body (where the dimple is) when you tighten/loosen it.

this is why i posted them up, because Im not sure, but I did not receive any of the hardware. I got a REALLY good deal on them but I was told they were new, thats why I am a little uncertain. deal or no deal if I didnt get what I thought I was getting I want my money back. Also what do I do about the bent perch ring?

New, definately, beaten on, definately. The bottom paint would be scuffed where it mounts into the bottom fork and the bolt dent would be scratched to hell to.
They have been badly stored, but they are definately new.

ok what do I do, I got them for a little more than half the cost of "brand new ones". As per pm he stated this before I paid money:

(6:10 PM 7/19/2008) mikeycivic: and these are 100% brand new and complete?
(6:11 PM 7/19/2008) (SELLER) yes they are brand new and complete

now he states this today!!!

they are brand new, i never used them, one of them were instaleld, i didnt asy they would come with hardware, and nothing was bent for sure, i dont take responsibilties if you install anything wrong, sorry sold as is

thanks man, some people are idiots. I mean he clearly stated they are brand new and complete. Now I find out "one" was mounted and he never said it came with hardware? Uh WTF didnt he understand when I said complete and he replied "yes complete". Therefore I putting him out there. Seller is kelviiv. As far as Im concerned he owes me a refund.

It obviously looks like both were installed, but it's impossible to tell if they were used by looking at them. As stated they do look pretty clean, and even if they were used a little, would that be a big deal for what you paid?

I think the big deal was that the seller lied to him and sold him a product was BRAND NEW and wasnt complete as it didnt come with the hardware even though he got them for a good price. Thatd be the big deal for me anyway.

Not if I knew ahead of time. I dont know whats been done to either shock. When you're told something is brand new and complete and you get it damaged, missing all the hardware, and find out its "been installed" wouldnt you be pissed? Aside from that, he is obviously a bad seller on HT and not trustworthy at all.
