As I'm contemplating on buying a 5th gen prelude, I'd just like to see how you, the owners of the car feel about the car. I've owned an H23 4th gen before, but I've never driven a 5th gen. Show some love or hate on it!

Edit: P.S. How are the seats on the car? Are the bolstered nicely like the DC5/BB4?

 

I love the fact that the car has that respect on the road that everyone wants to race, granted, I'm still stock with a cold air intake i still smoke some cars... gotten my behind whooped a couple times but thats all part of the game... i hate the vibrating noise it makes every time after i start and go forward... Overall

I didn't want to say anything either, but meh. In for some responses...

 

its got VTAK, the interior does feel like any other honda though. (most comparable to an integra imo) suspension upgrades should be first because you can feel the chassis flexing through hard turns (even before tires start screeching)

Haha, nobody respects your Prelude and nobody wants to race you. Are you 16?

Don't spread the bad image that people are constantly giving to imports by acting like that.

 

Love- That it's not a civic or integra, nice interior, 500whp.. I guess that's only my 5th gen lol

Hate- Weight, lack of aftermarket parts, how I can't get a new passanger airbag cover

 

Love- how its more on the rare side. like when i went to get an oil change they were like wat kinda car is this, all it says is dohc vtec lol

Hate- usdm parts on them

 

i love the shape and simplicity of the body. looks flatter than most honda/acuras. kinda has like a pyramid shape when your behind one cuz the way the windows are shaped. from the front, take a look at most newer cars, the hood angles up so high its almost like a damn mini-van. not on the lude tho.

i hate how its front wheel drive, haha but wacha expect, so its all good still. also, i wish it was lighter.

 

love - the unique aspect of the car, the civic to 5th gen ratio is AT LEAST 20:1 (louisville,ky)

hate - lack of (abundance of) really good parts

love - 2.2L of VTEC goodness

hate - cost of OEM parts (rule of thumb 2x the cost of the equiv. civic part)

love - (stock) beating six cylinder mustangs and camaros

hate - (stock) losing to GT's and z28's

love - the way it feels to do 60 down an off ramp

hate - (stock) getting beat by a 1.8T VW... it was a freakin passat!

love - the overall look of the car and the dead sexy stance when you look at it from the front

hate - the fact that the ford fusion front end looks like a 5th gen and its *** end looks like a 4th gen (anybody else take this into consideration)

love - no matter what its a honda

Love - that Honda decided to make the 5th gen look more like the 3rd gen (4th gens are hideous, imo)

Hate - lots of minivans/SUVs/trucks have a better turning radius. Prelude = fat *** bitch of a car

hate: that it's not a 4th gen

I love everything about my preludes, except FWD.

 

only thing i dont like is the understeer.... but that'll be taken care of soon...

love the turning circle i've got 4ws

 

I dislike how it is a heavy vehicle.
It does leak water into the trunk on very rainy days.

 

4WS on a 5th gen?!?!

and to OP, i love my cloth seats. 10 years old and not a single sign of wear, but all owners of this vehicle have been under 150lbs.

 

Pros -
Looks classic
Decent FE
Fairly fast
Interior has high quality feel and look
Easy to fix and reliable
Standard double din opening for a Navi system

Cons -
Unusable back seat
Small trunk
A little loud

EDM... gotta love it...

 

I really like the styling of the 5th gen. Both inside and out, it's probably one of the classiest Hondas ever. The H22A4 is nice, but mine seems to go through oil a little more frequently than I think it should. Might be from the FRM sleeves on these engines. The other problem I have with it is that even driving like mom and shifting at 2500, I only get low 20's for mileage.

Despite my little problems, I love the car and highly recommend it.

 

I hate the water in my trunk . still cant figure out where its coming from.

i hate auto tensioners too.

 

Hate that the seat belts don't retrive! well by themselves at least buttt 4th gens do that as well

 

Hate the Abs system which was poorly designed by Nissin and Nec. Everything else, I can't complain.
