Cursed headlight dilemma

So one of my headlight bulbs went out the other day and I lifted the hood to check for a loose connection etc. and upon shutting my hood the headlight that was out relit. The next day that same bulb went out but after trying many times to revive it by shutting the hood I gave up hope. However, the high beam does work on both lights. I would tend to think that the low beam filament went bad but I'm baffled as to why it cut back on when I shut the hood. Any input would help.
it's not cursed. The problem lies with a rusted or socket which can be full of mud or oil. That will impede the current flow to go from the harness to the lightbulb itself. No current = no light. So, when you slammed the hood down, the connector shaked and probably fired a small current which made the bulb lit up. It happens all the time with older cars

Because not everything will be corroded or be full of dirt. It happened to my eg. I would have to kick the headlight to get it to fire up LOL
