Default all turn signals went out

hey guys,

i was on the road yesterday and all of a sudden i noticed that all of my turn signals were out, even the hazard lights. they were working before, i haven't done any odd wiring to the turn signals at all, so i'm thinking its just a blown fuse. unfortunately i seem to have lost my repair manual so i don't even know which one to replace. the one in the engine bay doesn't have the turn signals listed, so i'm not sure where to start.

could anyone give me any advice? has anybody ever lost all of their turn signals randomly? oh and i know its not a bulb problem because they all dont work and i recently replaced a bulb on the front left signal. the display doesn't make the clicking noise at all from anything (turn signals or hazard lights). my headlights do work (although im pretty sure they're not related) and everything else in the car is working. i have a 96 accord lx.

thanks for your help

no not at all. i thought it was a fuse problem, so i bought a replacement 7.5a fuse for the signals, and they work fine for about 30 seconds, and then the fuse blows. i've tried with two separate 7.5a fuses and they have both broken almost instantly. i start the car, try a turn signal, they work for 30 seconds, and then they go out. any suggestions from anybody?

Well, from this, you know that something is shorting out somewhere to cause the wires to touch to the body, blowing the fuse.

Do they blow out with the hazards as well? Is there water collected in any of the turn signals which could short it out?

You deffinitly have a slightly bigger problem because the Hazards are wired on a seperate fuse for saftey reasons.

For example, if your headlights were burned out and you were in a car accident in the middle of the night, you could still use the Hazards.

You must have fried a MAIN ground or something. I would deffinitly get that looked at

My suggestion?

Replace the hazard switch first

Fried a main ground and blowing fuses? Interesting. High resistance or open circuits don't blow fuses. To diagnose the car efficiently, you need an electrical schematic for the circuit on that fuse.

heh sorry guys - i made all this fuss for nothing

muffin man was right - i replaced both the hazard fuse and the turn signal fuse (that would be the 3rd try though) and now everything works fine.
i just never thought to do the hazard and the turn signals (although my hazards were out) because i thought they were isolated systems. i guess not

thanks for the help though
