GT Motoring represents Honda at Redline Time Attack in Nashville and makes Time Attack History!
Gregory Haye was mere fractions of a second off the mark in taking 1st place in RWD Street class, shaving HUGE chunks of time off his last session of the day after fighting with thermostat/coolant issues.
Michael Ostby made history in the GT Motoring DC5 by becoming the first FWD Street Class car to win the Overall Street Class Championship for Round 5 of the Redline Time Attack event in Nashville.
I didn't take any pictures (was too busy sweating and driving...and sweating) but I should have a few videos to share with soon.

Well done! You're going to the Summit Point event, I hope. I'm interested in seeing the times you can put down there. If you do go, research the track surface conditions a little, it's been sort of...variable lately.

this fwd was runnin fasta than some of the rwd n awd cars out thurr this weekend!!!
Thanks a ton everyone! I'll be the first to admit that this was a by-product of location and luck more than anything else. Regardless, I'm still proud as hell to have made history :D
The crappy thing is that I still feel as though I left a lot on the table...especially in the first and last turns, but oh well.
Thanks for the heads-up on Summit Point, Stinkycheez...definitely good to know. As a noob to just about every track I'm at, the more I know, the better. Especially since a lot of the guys that show up to that event are very knowledgeable with that circuit.

Thanks! I felt pretty good about how things went down over the weekend. I did have to cope with some tire issues. The RE-01Rs are absolutely BRILLIANT in most conditions, but I think once you start creeping up towards triple-digit temperatures, they tend to lose a little bit of their bite...especially under braking and acceleration in the really tight sections of the course. Given how many laps I had on the track and everything else, I felt I did reasonably well, but I probably left about a second or so worth of time on the table.

The redline event is on shehdoah again. They dont do main for some odd reason.

Love your car Mike.
I am not familiar with the rules, but with the speed that you're having, it's good idea to get a rollbar/cage in there for extra protection. Not sure if that would bump you into a different class tho?

You bring up a good point though. I think the Shenandoah circuit really demands a lot out of a car, but for some of the more high-strung Modified and Unlimited cars, it's a bit too much. I've never driven it, but I've heard both rave reviews and gripes about the track, so I'm not sure what to expect other than that it beats the hell outta your car.
Wai, I definitely DO need a roll cage
Hopefully I'll be getting one soon. I was looking to get one for next to nothing from a certain manufacturer who will remain un-named, but I never had a media kit/sponsorship info in hand to submit to them in order to get everything underway.

boo to bolt in cages. Unless rules state otherwise. Being that most road race guys on this forum are doing HPDE's and W2W they will usually suggest towards weld-in custom fitted to follow rule book spec's because those are the safest cages. Not here to start a debate about cages, i dont care enough to argue with people who havnt seen numerous cars towed in from flips and such with no driver damage.
shenendoah is a great track, demanding on brakes and tires, its more of a large kart track. I suggest watching videos and seeing what its like, 20+ turns depending on configuration, and the line varies often depending on track conditions because its so complicated and inconvenient at some places. stnkycheezmonkey and myself have been there as instructors, any questions or anything about the track feel free to PM either of us, i think i have in-car footage somewhere from a trackdaze event.

Much appreciated. I plan to watch a TON of footage this coming week. I didn't get to do that during Nashville, but as you can see from the footage, while it is sorta tricky, it's really not a hard track to learn...and knowing that we'd get swamped with everything else, I ran for about an hour straight on Saturday to try and learn the track...much to the disgust of everyone else at GT Motoring (who were trying to get feedback from me on the new master cylinder that was just put in).
I agree on the cage issue as well. The problem is that I don't quite have the money to have the chassis prepared the way I'd like in terms of reinforcement and weight reduction...so welding in a cage now might be a nightmare when it comes time to take a step further with the chassis. Besides that, the much bigger issue is that most shops want to charge an arm and a leg and are too busy to fit my car in...which is very frustrating. Even a solid roll bar would suffice for now and I could go back in later for the rest of it when their time and my budget permitted, but I just haven't been having any luck.
I'll try getting back to you guys if I have any questions. I want to watch a few vids first just to make sure I'm looking at things right, just so I'm not wasting anyone's time with silly questions that are easily solved by watching a few more laps.
