i have a cool air intake in my car which the filter runs all the way down to my bumper... should i take it off and put a normal intake,,..... wat do u guys recommend....

take off the filter and take off your passenger inner fender liner. suck up a bird or whatever the [freak] can get down there.

U buncha ******** haha. It just depends on how much it rains where you are really. You wont see any performance gain no matter what you do with that intake.

You will actually see small significant HP/TQ gains with a cold air intake and a GOOD brand filter like K&N over a SRI. A SRI is guaranteed protection against sucking up water and hydrolocking it, but there's water protective filters and water bypass valves you can also install.

I had a K&N cold air intake for 1.5 years in rainy WA with no problems, I just avoided huge puddles.

 

1.5 years on my AEM CAI in florida with no problems yet!

 

once again rain could screw u up bad (here in florida rain is jus random). I also heard of rocks and sand hitting the filter and started to rip it up then the filter itself started getting sucked in.

 

I'd take the CAI off and put a stock airbox back on.

 

Put a short ram, I wouldn't go back to stock

A: Using a really shitty cheap air filter

B: Completely retarded

C: All of the above

maybe it's just me but everytime I've ever put a Air intake on a car i've felt like you lose hella bottom end torque...maybe its just me though.

yeah i would just put the stock one back on. I just put an AEM intake on mine not too long ago, and i would put it back to stock, but i love the way it sounds lol

look at a before/after dyno graph from a car with just an intake.. you'll see the power dip below stock at low-mid rpm range. you get more power from it on the top-end though.

i know you do... but honestly i dont go around redlining my car every 5 minutes, that little dip at the low-mid range sucks if all you do is cruise around. i've had a SRI on my new car and the stocker box and really i couldnt see a HUGE dif. but i definately felt a little doggier at lower rpms with the cone filter on.

to the OP do what you want... i had a civic with no wheel liner with a Cold air for 2 years no problem... i actually liked my cold air better then the SRI felt peppier and better with gas, how ever i am diggin my stock box with the intake arm now. its all personal preference so do what you want

If you want the sound, remove the resonator from the front bumper (works on EXes at least).

i hear you on that. but if i'm just cruising around, the -3 hp isn't really going to bug me. i'm not looking to floor it at 3-4,000 rpm in 4th gear and going "where did that 3 hp go!?!" conversely, i like having the added top end when i want it. and it sounds much better than stock intake.
