Default 79 Rabbit turbo build

So last week I helped my buddy turbo his Rabbit. It took us about 5 long days start to finish but I was totally worth it. Engine is a bone stock 1.6 gas with stock CIS.

Heres a little list of what we did.

Custom stainless thickwall manifold
Custom outlet on gt17 turbo
Custom full 3" downpipe and exhaust
Custom modified SRT-4 intercooler dual backdoor
2.5" inlet pipe from CIS box flapper thingy
2" hot pipe
2.5 cold pipe

Even against my recommendation my friend is ripping on it off of the WG spring and from what he says its fueling seems fine. No boost gauge is installed and we have no idea how much boost its pushing but its extremely responsive.

The hubs are 4x100 and hopefully Locash will let us buy some dyno time when we get the new turbo fuel distributor in. The boost will be turned up and hope to make 150-175 hp.

Everything we used was scrap besides a few couplers and flanges.

Here are a few more pix

The welds looks a tad bit undercut in the pic but in person its very minimal. The material is sch 40 stainless steel 304. This was my first manifold I created start to finish. I usually leave the welding to more experienced welders.

And this pic is funny because thats a 100+k Full Raced out Subaru Sti in the background.

I feel cool in the plasma goggles

The outlet on the turbine was about 2 inches but everyone knows bigger is better post turbo. I knew I should have coned it out to 4 inches:D

VIDEO!!!!!! sorry if its a bit dark

Some of the welds are under-something I just need more practice welding in tight spots, it should hold just fine.

heres a pic halfway through chargepiping. The exhaust manifold is located right under the intake so its a bit hard to see, even under the car, lol.

The car is a piece of crap, and the manifold is worth more than the rest of the car combined.

You can put that piece of junk on my dyno, but when it blows up, you better clean that **** off my floor with your tongue.

Oh, good job wasting 5 days, you could have designed that new K-series manifold..

There are some things that cannot be seen in this thread.. Like my laughing, for instance.

I hate everyone equally.

Just get a CIS setup from a turbo Volvo and turn the boost up. I'd shoot for 200whp haha

Nice manifold.

i meant a z6 or y8... a few mini coopers have been givin the gift of a honda motor, and it was probably the best thing that ever happened to them...

and the rabbit is about the same size, so i am sure you would see very similar results...
