Timing belt 1990 Acura Intergra.. Skips, on intake cam!!!
I have a 90 Acura integra, i bought a new timing belt kit, and also replaced the water pump. The problem is after setting the timing, i start the car it runs strong for the first couple of minutes (3-4) and then the intake cam jumps. After taking it all back apart, the exhaust mark is correct, the crank mark is in place, but the intake is off. i wanna know what could cause this problem?????
It should have been put in tech/misc.
Did you tension the belt properly, or just guess? You are supposed to have the tensioner bolt slightly loose, turn the crank pulley a certain amount (check service manual), then tighten that bolt.

yea, i used a pry bar to adjust the tensioner! then i locked it down. but it still skips. i wonder if i have something put on backwards. checked all the parts and they match up to the ones thats on the car.
When you say cam caps, your meaning the ones that hold the cam down... or are you talking about the ends?
