my brand new CF hood wont shut!!!
i just got a CF hood for my gsr, and the damn thing wont shut. its something with the latch. its almost like the hook on the hood is too long, but its not, i measured. i tried moving the latch over, up, down, ive tried everything, i dont know what to do. i imagine this happens more than once, so anyone know any tricks or anything?
On my stock hood, after about 2-3 years I had issue of my hood not closing completely. After a while I just took out the latch completely and cleaned it thoroughly. I figured it was the latch since the hood latch handle wouldn't reset properly.
Just something to look at. If thats not it, good luck.

Only if there's no hood latch, one would be needed.

CF is alot lighter and I've deffinently heard horror stories of peoples carbon fiber hoods flying up on them on the highway. I would recommend hood pins as well, but that shouldn't be a reason for the latch not to work right.

^ Go to most websites that sell Cf hoods and they will say "Hood Pins recomended". I have seen this for most ads by all the top companies like Seibon and Carbon creations. If you have trouble finding this info on websites i will be more than happy to link you.
Edit:
"Carbon fiber hoods are usually OEM fit and finish which means un-bolting your factory unit and replacing it with the lightweight unit. Little to no modification is needed to get these to fit properly, and they often come with OEM metal latches for an easy installation. Nevertheless, hood pins are recommended for use with all carbon fiber hoods. "

the reason they're recommended is because cf hoods have a habit of opening at high speeds. definitely not required though.

ok guys your reading comprehension is terrible I never said they were required...
They dont have a habit of opening but being lighter than regular hoods it does happen sometimes. So if yuu want to risk damaging ur hood, windshield, and roof, go ahead and don't put hood pins on. I felt a lot more confident driving on the highway after i installed $20 hood pins.

That's like saying you're recommend to drive with 2 hands on the steering wheel. No one really does it.</TD></TR></TABLE>
