Default Tranny swap questions...

It's time to swap my automatic d16y8 tranny out for a 5 speed tranny. Here are the parts a know I need, please let me know if I am overlooking anything or am wrong about anything.

1. Tranny- d16y7 which I have already located for cheap
2. Clutch- Planning on ordering a Exedy OEM replacement from ebay
3. Flywheel- Planning on ordering a Fidanza OEM replacement from ebay
4. ECU- What ecu will I need exactly?
5. Cluster- Si cluster
6. Linkage- Comes with the tranny I found
7. Shifter- Planning on ordering a Skunk 2 short shifter
8. ****- Planning on ordering a Skunk 2 ****
9. Boot- Planning on ordering a ITR shift boot
10. Pedal Assembly- Comes with tranny I found
11. Pedals- Planning on ordering some aftermarket pedals
12. Master Cylinder- Comes with the tranny I found
13. Slave Cylinder- I dont know where to find this?

Basically, my only questions are what to do about the ecu and the slave cylinder and the lines for the master cylinder and slave cylinder. Please let me know if I'm overlooking anything. Thanks.

I was thinking about Exedy and Fidanza combo kit like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...54155
Would this contain everything I need for clutch and flywheels part of the swap?

Why you want a Y7 tranny on your Y8 engine? ( I assume you are having a D16Y8) Try get the Y8 tranny possible, sicne Y8's gear ratios are closer, your car will pick up faster...btw, Y7 has a longer shifting distance...

Yes I have a d16y8 engine. I know all the specs about the differences between the two trannys already. I tried to find a d16y8 tranny but I couldn't but I know a guy locally who will sell me perfect d16y7 tranny for cheap. Should I just keep looking for the y8 tranny or settle for the y7? Thanks.

You've got master and slave cylinder confused. The master cylinder bolts up the outside of the firewall, get one from a junkyard. the slave cylinder is attached to the transmission. For the lines get them from a junkyard, examine them closely, they have a habit of rotting through or cracking, especially the section between the coupler and the slave cylinder. For the ECU you need a manual P2P. Make sure you get the transmission mounts with the transmission or source them from a junkyard, the top mount and the vibration mount are different, the rear mount is the same i believe, it is on the EGs anyway. if you can get your hands on the hole where the shifter comes up through the floor from a manual civic get that too, it has a ring that the inner shift boot snaps onto, this keeps the exuast fumes from entering the car. Hardest part of the swap is probably just getting the pedals in and out, theres a bolt up top thats easy to forget. good luck

Thank you sir. Looks like I will be making a trip to the junkyard after I get all my other stuff together.

If I don't already have a clutch can I just order the kit that I linked to up above or do I have to have a clutch to put the kit in? I guess what I'm asking is will that kit replace the clutch or is it just to rebuild it?

That kit replaces everything. About the only thing you would ever reuse when you do a clutch job is the flywheel. generally you replace everything else.

Great! Thata exactly what I wanted to hear. Well, I have located everything I need so I guess the only thing left to do is order the parts and find the time to do it. Thanks you.
