i don't know what size the pistons are in the z6 but on my a6 i was gonna run the zc pistons(pm7) with a thinner HG and those pistons it said your compression would go from 9.4-1 to 11-1 keep in mind you HAVE to run higher octane gas as well. The higher octane gas part made me not go with this setup. As a friend stated you could get the same amount of HP from a intake or header as you could with that upgrade and in the end the H/I would be a lot cheaper my 2 cents......

the hp is measured at the crank when the factory does it so its much higher 130hp would be at the wheels

a friend of mine had a z6 with a cam and zc pistons in an ek, and that thing could move for some resin. would beat ls hatchs and some b16 civics as well. compression would be around 12.7:1

For what its worth I built a High compression D.
A6 block,rods,crank,P29 pistons,ported A6 head,2 layer cometic HG,Gude 007 cam and SK2 adjustable cam gear,tuned on a chipped P06.
Although I don't have any dyno numbers it moves out with authority.
Compression calculator showed 12.1:1 with my setup.

IMO Y8 motors are junk...oiling problems and more.If you can find one use a Z6.Far better motor IMO.

You need to figure out WHICH D16A1 pistons you're going to use first.

86-87 are flat top pistons and we call them "PG7" and they yield more compression than stock Z6 pistons.

88-89 are dome top pistons and we call them "P29" and they REALLY yield more compression in a Z6 engine.

There are compression calculators that you can play with by punching in different heads, pistons, gaskets, etc.

Click Here To See a Calculator

I built an 11:1CR D16A6 on-VTEC with a stock cam and head and it literally ran better than any LS swap my friends owned, but I also built a close ratio tranny to go with it too.

PM7/P29 (JDM ZC/USDM D16A1) they both are listed under same so i figured they give the same bump in compression come on now im the noob aint gotta get pissed hahah but seriously thanks for the info guys

i will prob go with the dome pistons unless there is a prob with the valves if i put an aggressive cam in it the pistons i was told to use was d16a1 cause "they have valve relieves so you can put a big cam no issues" so as long as the dome ones are good prob want them
