Anyone ever installed the OEM optional remote entry/alarm?
Bought the brain unit off someone awhile back but can't figure out where it plugs in at. The helms barely mentions it. Here is a crappy picture of where the harness would plug in:

The unit itself appears to be from Canada, but it seemed like it should still work. I poked around under the driver's side and couldn't find anything that looked like it would work.

The Brain mounts on the right hand side of the steering column bracket.
The only nice part of the OEM alarm is the hood switch. A much nicer mounted switch than the typical aftermarket push pin style.

In my GS-R the unit is beneath the dash and mounted to the metal frame work behind it. It was towards the center of the car, facing the driver.
Funny this thread popped up...

I needs to find my install instructions.
Jim I think you just need the OEM siren. I'm guessing when you plug it in to brain, it disables horn relay output.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well I know that there is a switch on the box, but I was wondering if there was another harness for the siren...

Sweet, anyone have the part number for the harness? sgt gave me a harness but we are unsure if its the correct part.

Yup, harness goes in behind drivers kick panel in the footwell. I went home with two boxes, Alarm and harness. I'll see if i can find the damn inst. sheet when I get home. I have the boxes with P/Ns for '97-'98 ITR. Jim, I never popped for siren, so don't have the P/N for that, solly.
good info.. sounds like i am missing the harness to make this work. No wonder I couldn't find where to plug it in..
I really just wanted the remote entry most of all and the horn alarm sounded like a bonus..
and now that you guys mentioned it, I found the list for all years on Carland's website:
http://www.acuraautomotivepart...urity
Koala yummies, do you want to sell that main harness? looks like the part number is the same as listed for the 98..

Scott, I sent a a pm.... I just went out and checked mine, need some questions answered. Would rather not put them out over the intraweb.

Correct.

Correct.
the only anti-theft on the radio is the radio code itself.. shouldn't be related to the alarm system at all.. my first R already had it installed when I got it, and I replaced the head unit without issue..

If you don't see any plug ins going into the radio then it probably doesn't.

OP, you putting this on a 98? After talking to Len, his master catalog says that the "alarm" mechanism is not available for the 98's. Only thing you would be able to use is the lock unlock.
If you get the harness from Scott, you'll be at the point I am. Looks like my hopes for hooking up a siren are gone.

Yep.. This is going on a 98.. I only wanted the remote locks functionality and if the horn alarm ended up working too, that's great..

I'm not sure what the prices are for these parts, but you may be better suited upgraded to a DEI unit- especially if this is the one you plan on keeping. I know you are looking for keyless entry, but my thoughts are coming from a security standpoint. I did my own alarm install in the gs-r last November with the help of Desmon(wrx-eater-sti-killer.) I learned quite a bit through him and the install process.

That's the alarm Jim, works off the door domelight switches. I think the brain also has a glass break sensor. (There will be a sensitivity adj. on the box.) There's also a switch or two for other functions.

Yea I saw the switch for the siren/horn and the sensitivity switch....but apparently there is no accessory harness (siren/hood switch) for the 98. I'm gonna figure it out....I'll let everyone know what I find.

Be careful. Like I told Jim, I see that the website shows those part numbers for the 1998 models. However in my master catalog, nothing shows up. Probably why Jim is having a difficult time finding where to plug his harness. Cheers!
