It takes alot of practice, definatly not for amateurs. The only way to learn is by actual hands on experience on the track. First you shoudl watch those japanese time attack videos and observe there driving skills.
Autocross. Don't even mod your car, because making your car fast without making the driver fast is 100% useless.
I have a stock JDM B18C R-spec, and I autocrossed against a stage 1 SRT4 putting down 275whp and 350wtq, about twice my torque and 100 more horsepower. I beat him by 5 seconds because he couldn't drive for ****. I also got beat by an all stock Toyota Yaris by 3 seconds, because I can't drive for **** either. Once you become limited by your cars performance and not your own inability to drive, then start upgrading things,

i think the Yaris beating the srt-4 by 8 seconds is even better lol

kinda glad I'm not in cali anymore haha.
anyways yes, just learn to drive. Don't go crashing into people.
like someone said though watch videos on the real drivers out there, learn oversteer, understeed, snap oversteer, etc etc.

to him for doing it the right way and not being unsafe on the streets. i say more power to him if he wants to get an early start at the track

your best would be actually learning the fundamentals of driving a stick like taking off shifting gears and driving in traffic before you start trying more controlled driving.
wow you guys are all making it sound like its hard to drive a stick shift honda...
its a hon-duh
they are pretty simple beasts lol
to the OP dont worry about all the fancy terms and things like heel/toe **** like that, learn your car... most importantly learn how to rev match and learn how to downshift like a mother [freak]er. since you drive a honda keep your RPMs up is really the only thing that matters since thats where what ever power we are making usually comes from.
and i agree if you plan on racing this thing, keep it pretty stock (other then suspension/brakes) till you get used to it, the more mods you do the higher class they usually make you and that will put you up against faster cars when you still dont really know what your doing.

I wouldn't even upgrade the suspension, that will put you in a higher class as well. I get boned every month because SCCA puts me in Street Modified with big turbo STIs. I would recommend upgrading the brakes to 4-wheel discs, with stainless steel lines, and DOT4 fluid. Once thats done you'll have quite some time to learn how to drive before you'll need a suspension/swaybars/etc.

Go to any scca autox and start asking people there. I have found so many people with knowledge to share on driving car set up and even doing ride alongs after competition runs. Just keep it on the track and enjoy the sport there. here is a link just find your region and check out when the events are being held
