***need help with SWAP info. ecu problems***
i recently got a swap done on my 1997 civic. my civic used to be AUTOMATIC so keep that in mind. A b16 out of a 2000 si. everything went smooth and we used the obd2a automatic engine harness on the car with the stock ECU. i bought me a p30 ecu with a jumper harness (obd2a to obd1). i plugged it and the car turns on but IMMEDIATELY shutf off and i cannot keep the car on at all. if i give the car gas it stays on but as soon as i let go it shuts off on me. anybody know what this problem could be. im thinking it might be a sensor or something but any help from you guys would help get to the bottom of this. thanks.

Just to verify the p30 is not fried. I sold this computer to DAKID and we both saw it run in our friends car the night he picked it up from me. I'm wondering if its the automatic egines harness. I know that the auto harness has 4 plugs to the ecu and the 5 speed one only has 3. Could this be the problem

I was thinking this could be the problem as well but I know a friend that has the exact same setup coming with a automatic engine harness on a p30 and his don't have any problems. Maybe a wire is crossed or something? I also tried my friends p30 with his jumper and it did the same thing. I also tried a jdm type r ecu and it did the same thing. I'm thinking either wiring or a sensor is messed up. I don't know. Help?

yea any cells?
its not the ecu. it sounds to me that its the TPS. I bet it hit the firewall during install and broke. if its starting and you have to hold the pedal to keep it running... yea check that TPS out. TPS will not always throw codes btw

With the jumper harness... i bet the female end has 4 inlets and only three plugs off the other end. i wouldnt think its harness problems

thanks for the responses. im going to check out those sensors tomorrow. its not throwing any codes so i guess ill see. if i remember the tps did hit in the pricess of taking the motor to the shop. so i guess ill see. thanks guys.
Ill be checking tps and map sensor tomorrow for DAKID. Hopefully that's the problem so he can start driving his beast of car.
Also dakid why you lying about the motor being stock. You know its a beast 16.....lmao...jk

Ok honda tech we tried the tps and the map and those were not the problems. Keep in mind the car does run with my automatic ecu, but when I plug the p30 with the jumper harness it don't work. I've tried many other ecu's and they all do the same. As some of you know the stock AUTOMATIC ecu has 4 plugs for the ecu. And the manual ones have 3. Well when I plus in my stock automatic ecu it stays on. Even with the 3rd plug not plugged in., but no other ecu will work with the car. Anybody else know what this problem could be. Its getting frstrating. Anybody?

It could very well be that, but if it was my engine harness would the auto ecu still work if my engine harness was [freak]ed? I'm not sure..

AICV - faulty/dirty/not connected right (auto trans uses three wire, manual uses two wire, you've converted it right?)
TPS - out of adjustment/not wired right/faulty
properly set idle screw

yeah we tried a obd2a ecu and it did the same thing... who knows
