I have a 94 honda prelude si and I wanted to know what is the weight distribution on the car stock. And also if Seibon or VIS has TRUE carbon fiber hoods and trunks.
Stock weight distribution is somewhere around 65% front 35% rear.
All the VIS stuff I have seen is fiberglass with a CF layer on top. I have a hood and trunk and they are both like that. Seibon might offer something like that, but probably not for Preludes.

do i have this right? the closer you are to 50/50 weight distribution the better the car will handle because of the center of gravity rule. so its better if i just get a carbon fiber hood and move the battery to the trunk? and dont do anything to the trunk. what is the preludes stock weight? does that include the spare tire in the trunk?
ok....
94 Si = 2866 for MT and 2921 for AT....if you're a guy and you care about your ride, we'll assume you have the MT. a car battery weighs ~50lbs and a CF hood reduces by (guessing) ~30lbs....now assuming Hawkze's info is correct (no reason to assume it isn't), you would be removing 80lbs from the front and adding 50lbs to the rear....that would change your vehicle from 65%F/35%R to about 63.75%F/36.25%R....negligable in my opinion
By the way, if you're a girl and have the automatic, the % difference is less. Closer to 64%F/36%R

For what it's worth, I weighed my car in the beginning of '05 and I came up with 1560 lbs on the front axle and 960 lbs on the rear axle. Of course that is a bunch of weight reduction all around, but the rear is still a good bit lighter than the front.
This was a truck scale, so who knows how they are set up, but it's all I have

It's actually not very close to 50/50...it's still around 65/35.
I've done all kinds of stuff to reduce weight, if you like, I can IM you the list

Yeah, close enough
A LOT has changed since that weigh in, I really wonder where it's at now.....
I know the front has lost more weight than the back.

The farther back that you move the battery, the better results you get. Also, pulling the spare out is causing you to increase the distribution to the front.
A good way to move weight distribution AND decrease understeer is to get a softer, lighter front sway bar (or remove it altogether) and get a stiffer rear sway bar. Since this causes the rear to sway less than the front, you will be increasing traction in the rear wheels.

whos says this is gonna help your car "handle better" if the prelude was designed to be a good handling car at 65/35... lets face it your not making a track car... buy the struts, springs and swaybars
