Default Boost on a SI??

Any one know how much boost an SI will take safely on a supra turbo? think the compressor is only 28MM so not a big turbo, just want a little bit more power!

not a matter of boost but power.

It bothers me when people associate engine limitations with boost pressure.

IMO...250-300hp can be pulled off safely as a daily driver....speaking from experience. people run more but I was never ballsy enough to push my internally stock motors that high.

Safely, you can run 5 to 6 PSI in the SI without any internal changes. The issue is fuel tuning. Can't boost if you can't tune. From what I have heard, the piggy backs out in the market are not the greatest.

I am running 5psi boost in my supercharger. I am producing 323 hp at the crank, around 260 to the wheel. The Supercharger alone got me to 250 to the wheels, the header designed to run with the Supercharger, Cold Air and Cat Back got me another 10hp to the wheels.

If your intention is to zip around town, this is what I suggest. I am increasing my boost to 9psi when Hondata releases full tuning, but I was warned by my mechanics not the run the engine near redline for more than a few seconds or I risk blowing a Rod. Sustained higher cylinder pressure creates much more heat and the risk if blowing a rod is greatly increased.

Then again, my car also spends 95% of the time in the garage.

I used to run an EGT gauge for this reason. when doing highway pulls it allowed me to monitor the exhuast temp and when it was reaching unsafe levels I'd let off the throttle.

also, with higher power levels on stock internals, you're at risk of blowing anything in the rotating assembly not just the rods.

There is a piggy back system out there that will take 10 PSI. only issue with it is that you do not have specific RPM control. Why use hondata why not K-Pro??

I did not ask how much power can one take did I.

I can not stand when people try to talk to people like they do not know what they are talking about when they probably know more.

The one thing i do not know is how much power boost will make on a SI. I know the heads flow allot of air, but i am not pulling the head to flow test the head lmao.

So i will probably run 7 daily since such a small turbo. Thanks for the Help!!!!

well you obviously don't know.

like i mentioned above....it's not about how much boost but power. 10psi on one setup may not make the same as 10psi on another setup.

ITS ABOUT HOW MUCH POWER THE STOCK INTERNALS CAN TAKE.

so again, on stock internals, daily driven, you can safely get away with 250-300 HP....you can push more if you want but it gets tricky.

read a book!

Kpro cannot be used for k20z3 because of dbw. Hondata is still working for a tuning system for these civics.

I also cannot stand when some one asks a question about boost and does not take the advice from members who have had experience with boost setups.

I do take advice from people that are giving advice not making smart *** comments like he did again. READ WHAT I PUT!! I PUT WHAT TURBO I AM RUNNING!!!!!!!

I figured every one that had a newer civic was as intelligent as all the other members in this thread that could figure out what i was asking. Out of every one only one guy had to make a comment trying to be smart.

Since you know SOOOOOO much come to Texas and run my EG drag car! Good luck if you do!

^And he comes out swinging.

Calm down, you fired back 'i don't want power numbers, i just want boost.' Well there is a correlation between power and boost, and I was hoping you could put those two things together.

I was trying to help you dude....you can't take constructive criticism i guess.

good luck finding out how much boost you can run.

take a trip to the forced induction section....they'll agree with everything I've said in this thread.

and about your "eg"....I drive a stock Si dude....i no longer own any cars that are boosted or all motor built. thanks for the invite though....i never wanted this to be a pissing contest.

grow up!
