1985 cr125r won't start
fresh off a top end rebuild and i can't get it to start for the first time. no choke lever (broke off the carb) engine has around 90 psi, should have 140+
Do I need the choke lever especially now to start it or should I look at a bump start
fresh gas, honda syn 2-stroke oil
i think it has good spark, zaps me when i touch it?

Going by the classic "fuel, spark, compression" guide, I'd say look at compression and fuel. 90psi does seem rather low. Also, if the choke doesn't work, try spilling some gas right in the carb, or even better, some carb-start spray crap, the stuff people put in old cars to get them to start. It's a volatile substance that atomizes incredibly well and should act as the choke pretty much. I don't know much at all about 2 strokes, but you should look if your compression ring is seated right, and I don't know what else. In a 4 stroke low compression can be due to valves not being lapped, but I don't know about 2 strokes or how they work to be honest.
