I didn’t think this day would come so soon. The more I think about it though, the more it makes sense. With my last year of college steadily approaching, it’s time to redirect all the energy I put into this car and into my career. This is a fun hobby and racing is an itch I constantly have to scratch! Call it “getting outta the game” or whatever, but I’ll be back in a Honda before you know it!
I don’t owe a dime on this car. I’m not in a hurry to sell it. It will sit at my parents’ house under a car cover in a clean garage while I’m in college. If I don’t get what I want out of it, I’ll just keep it and add more parts to it next year!
There’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with this car. It’s perfectly streetable and very reliable. It was built up so I could drive it on sunny days, and take it out to the local auto-x events. With a few sway bars and a good driver, this car can be very competitive in the Street Mod class. I’ve only had the chance to take this car out once to the auto-x and it is absolutely a blast! It gets great gas mileage, cops never bother me, and my insurance is crazy low ($43 a month, as long as I keep it under 9k miles a year.)

Paint is not perfect, but it looks great for a stock paint job. There are less than a handful of visible dings, which can be removed with ease by a shop specializing in paint-less dent removal.
Rear bumper has a small crack right above the muffler opening. I bought the car like this and it’s never really bothered me that much. It’s not directly visible unless you get up right next to the car.
The front bumper has a small scuff right under the driver side headlight. This is also not very visible unless you kneel down and examine it closely.
TUNING
91 octane pump gas (around 30 mpg)
Chipped P28 ECU (OBD-1)
OBD-2b to OBD-1 jumper harness
Neptuned by SuprDave of Whip Factory
Perfect 900 rpm idle every time
6,000 rpm 2-step launch control
6,700 rpm v-tec crossover
9,300 rpm red line
Car put down 186whp / 122tq on the local Mustang Dyno while only revving to 8,700 rpm. (Dyno owners didn’t know how to operate the dyno) The dyno tuning was also done on a cheap Megan Racing (eBay) stainless header, which was obviously holding this setup back. It’s all I could afford at the time. The cams were also starving for more air in the top end (according to SuprDave.) A 68mm throttle body and some porting to the current intake manifold would really open up the potential of these cams. I’m confident this car would put down at least 200whp on a dynapack dyno if just the whole power band was utilized with the current setup.
OTHER
Brand new EverStart battery from Walmart
There’s a custom oil catch can kit running off the back of the block to help with blow-by gases through the piston rings. It is not a drain back system so you occasionally have to drain it manually. There’s plenty of room to do it so it’s really easy. It’s bigger than the Endyn unit and was fabricated by a shop I found on Honda-Tech, but I forgot the name.
All air conditioning stuff has been scrapped. A/C delete plug has been installed on the firewall. The mechanism for the A/C that’s usually located behind the glove box has been removed.
Power steering has also been removed in order to maximize engine power and “feel” for the car/road. Power-steering lines have been looped, and then T’d into a second clutch reservoir, which serves only as a “breather.” The breather helps the air bubbles left in the power steering lines escape so that you’re not pushing them around in a big circle. With the smaller Sparco steering wheel, it literally feels like you’re driving a go-kart. Lots of fun!
Headlight harnesses have been “tucked” underneath the fenders to leave the engine bay as clutter-free as possible. I’ve also soldered on new headlight harness plugs; that’s right, no more nasty/greasy *** plugs! Previous owner has painted front headlight housings black. They come equipped with yellow bulbs and it looks pretty nice. The coolant overflow reservoir has also been tucked under the firewall; right in front of the radiator.
The two lower motor mounts have been filled with 3M-window weld, as well as the upper passenger side motor mount. The driver side upper mount has been left untouched, but the rear motor mount has an ES bushing insert. If you’ve read before that filling these mounts will cause your car to vibrate uncontrollably to a point where it’s undesirable, forget what you heard, cuz this car idles at the red light like stock! Without spending $300-400 on solid motor mounts, I think this is the second best option in an attempt to minimize the motor flexing during acceleration.
Any unnecessary plugs on the engine harness have been traced, de-pinned and removed. I then rewrapped the whole harness in fresh wire loom and quality 3M electrical tape. I “tucked” it behind the motor and out of view to the best of my ability to make it look as clutter-free as possible.
Just about every seal or gasket I could replace was replaced when the motor was rebuilt. I have a manila envelope full of receipts and part numbers for most of the engine parts to prove this.
The motor/car has never seen any kind of snow or winter weather. I have driven it in the spring rain a few times, but it always gets a full wash and scrub inside and out the following sunny day.
PICS
I have a set of 15" GS-R "fat fives" with some track rubber mounted on them. 2 Toyo & 2 Hankook with plenty tread left on all four. I can has pics of those later? If someone gives me a good offer these are going with the car! I also have a 5th fat five that didn't hold air so we scrapped the tire, but the rim is in perfect shape, and that can go too!

These are the most current pics I have of the engine bay.
