Ok...Big, weird problem with my 98 lude...help?!!
Ok, so my lude just randomly cuts off, during idling and even while driving!! My mechanic says that it's my factory alarm triggering the fuel pump cut off to engage. Does that sound right? Or is he a moron? If he's correct, does anyone know what can cause that to happen? I really need my car back, and I feel that he needs all the help that he can get!! Any helpful pointers?? Thanks
Most likely the ignition switch if you loose all power when it goes off....it's very common and there was a recall. Also a very easy fix.
i don't lose all power....it's just like you turn the car on enough to be able to roll up the windows and the stereo's still on and all...
i have a 98 prelude and it cuts off randomly while driving and while at idle. my problem was the ICM and coil being faulty. however, my car had other symptoms such as the tach jumping around, i dunno if you have that. but if it does, definitely check ignition components.
Cool...i gave the local dealership my vin and the ignition switch recall wasn't done on it, so that should fix it!
