AutoX?
ok, I know nothing about racing and am building a race car. I have a shell, I need suspension and engine build. I have an ls motor and the plan was to drag race it. I was going to do a full lsvtec turbo set up for drag. but now that I have an r and live inthis forum all day, i am thinking about going autox. I think i would enjoy it more. What kind ofbuilt set up would you run for this? The other thing is money, drag woul be expensive, im already over 20k in the car, and drag setup would be another15-20k. I kinda would like to finnish the car soon. Please let me know your thoughts.

Bone stock R is more than capable. Work on the driver more than the car.

stock motor, maybe a couple bolt ons and some EMS tuning, pick up an extra set of wheels/tires, pads, suspension, done. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Do both ! Just need a running car to do an auto x and don't even need to have a great motor. You'll find in auto x'ing and tracking it isn't always about the car .. most of the time it is the driver.
Glad to see you are coming over to the dark side

ok, so stock R motor, what about suspension? tower bars? arms? what kinda stuff is good for that? The other question is paint, how does the body hold up? It is a show quality paint job, complete iterior painted 6pt cage.
20k in the car? You could of bought an already running itr for less than that...
Anyway, since you want to auto-x you prob dont need to concentrate on power, i mean c'mon they're small and mostly setup in parking lots so no need for power really. A c5 with minor bolt-ons should do
Just buy good tires, good brake pads (you will go thru these quickly) and a nice suspension setup. Suspension setups are endless with this car

Stock as in STOCK... work on driver, not car!!!
Those things aren't going to make you any better or faster... you need to learn car control, lift throttle over steer and things like that before you need to worry about suspension and such.

lol i have a stock running itr as my dd. The original idea of the civic was to be a mint jdm version, show car, with a powerhouse to make cars like the zo6 look slow, but now that im growing up its not all that important to me and i want to drive the car already.

well with all due respect, paint jobs arent a priority for most ppl that track or autox their R's.
that said, learn to drive the car stock (or relatively stock) first before worrying about modifying it. if you are just starting out you need a good basis first before you go modifying it. adding something as simple as a rear strut bar or sway bar can DRASTICALLY change the way the car works at speed into a corner. you need to work your way up the ladder.

Ok, I am confused.
Do you have an ITR shell you want to build up? Or a Civic shell? Do you have a stock ITR and want to build up a Civic? If so, why is this here?
Anyway, if you're just going to auto-x the R, keep it stock. You will get eaten up by Civic CX's in any other modified classes. But you will tear just about everybody up in D-Stock.

i hope we arent talking about your civic...after all this IS the ITR forum. not the road race or auto x forums.
by the way, drag racing can be fun with a fast car. and rolling a C6 Z06 is fun too

Understood, but i have a stock r that would be my practice and learning vehicle. the civic is more of an ongoing project looking for ideas so i know what to sell and whatnot, i have a lot of money wrapped up in an engin and trans, that i could sell if its not the direction im going in.

well i can tell you that the ITR and the civic will be night and day different in a racing or track environment. I have both. and I can also tell you that having a fully built turbo setup on the track is not worth it. been there, done that. there are a couple exceptions, but for the most part keep that stuff on the drag strip.

I cant add to that.

that is what i though ( about the turbo built setup) I amtrying to stay clear from that because it is too expensive, and im getting tired of dedicating my life to the drag car of my dreams, considering auto x looks more fun.

I think your confused, I already have the R as my dd. The civic has been an on going project for a couple years now, the civic was intended for drag originally but now i want to finnish it and go a cheaper route possibly more entertaining to myself.
P.s. check your pm eluam.

When you start a thread saying you know nothing about racing, how do you propose to build a competent car without knowing what to expect? Get your *** out there and drive a few events. Learn the car, what is does/doesn't do...talk to people and see what works for them......then, and only then should you begin "building a car".
You can build and build until your wallet pukes pocket lint, then show up at your first event and simply get your *** handed to you by some HS Civic....then you'll understand what we're trying to tell you
