i think i may have an electrical problem
The first time i noticed this i was at radio shack when my 92 civic just dies out of no where. i thought i may have ran out of gas since i was on a hill. A little after i noticed my fuel pump nor my cd player was turning on but the engine would crank over.
Then eventually my fuel pump kicked on and it was fine for a couple days. Then yesterday rolled around it was kinda bogging out when i was goin up a mountain by my house.
When i got home i replaced my neg terminal and cleaned the grounds coming off of it( one going to the chasis and one going to the starter) and the ground off the valve cover.
After that i take it for a drive and it seemed to be alright then i got to an intersection and anytime after i finally got the car started it would die when i just tried to get it off the side of the road.
My main relay doesnt seem to have any cracks in it looks alright. Im just lookin for any help at all.
thanks

the car will start fine, its just like a problem that will show up out of no where.. and if it wont start i will know right away because i will here my fuel pump turn on and see my cd player turn on
It's not the relay itself that cracks but the solder joints. It's pretty hard to recognize if you don't know how to solder. You can get a new one or you can melt the solder to get rid of the cracks. Although main relay problems usually cause a no-start condition rather than a stall condition. It takes a lot more energy to open a relay than it does to keep one open.
The only connection between the stereo and ECU that I know of is that the stereo's constant 12v power (white/blue) shares the same 7.5A fuse under the hood as ECU memory. However the car runs just fine with this fuse blown...

ya i was looking at the solder poitns because my buddy with a crx had a relay problem. he looked at it and said he doesnt really see any, and his was an obvious burn and crack. The 7.5 fuse under the hood i replaced and still is fine, i replaced it when my cd player wouldnt turn on.

no but a flakey fuse or a bad ignition switch would.

well i switched out the relay and never installed my cd player back into the car. The car was driving fine for about 45 minutes of driving, parked for about an hour or two, went back out and about 20 minutes it died, when i turned the key, the fuel pump didnt kick on, but the relay did do its first click, so i believe i eliminated the relay problem and maybe the cd player causing this.
Any ideas

bump still haven the problem. gonna try lookin through the haynes manual wiring diagrams.. also no cluster lights work, or the center console lights, cig lighter works tho
My mom's car was doing that same thing. I got a tip from someone on here about the wiring harness. If you look under the intake manifold near the rear engine mount, the wiring harnesses tend to rub through and will "occassionally" cause a ground short to the computer. Its hard to see without removing the intake manifold, but I did it and that was the problem. Just have to cover the wires again and insulate for another 160k miles. Good Luck.
well i was out messin with it today and while it was runnin i was jigglin around the possitive terminal and it cut off..
