hondata S300 and MSD ignition box?????

Also, moving it away from the ecu would be a wise idea.

Mine is mounted about 4 inches from my ECU and everything works fine. Now i do have an issue with datalogging where it only catches 3rd and 4th gear BUT that started later on and used to datalog properly in the same position.

Pick up a MSD noise filter, also keep on hand a spare ignitor..

Msd haters!
I have ran msd for 5 yrs with zero problems. I now run the Digital 7. Its mounted about ft. away from the ecu. And we ran shielded wires to the distributor and coil. If you run those wires next to the engine harness going through the fire wall, your gonna have issues. So we seperated to eliminate any missfires, and other datalog issues. Everyone has ther own opinion and i respect that, but i love my msd 7 and i know it works.

everyone talks about msd's and noise. well i probably have the most possible noise generator on my car, and it runs like a champion, the ecu see's 0 noise ! (with no noise filter/capacitor)
Gary, when you shut your car off with that capacitor hooked up, does it still run on for like 2-4 seconds ? because of the charge the capacitor is holding ?

No i've never experienced the delay in shutdown. I'm assuming you have ? or worked on a car that did that ?

One, you have a great ecu that's very resistant to RF noise interference, the S300 is a completely different animal in that respect. You look at it wrong and i'll stop datalogging.
Two, does you car really run like a champ? Aren't you having issues with it?

Perhaps the differance lies, in your car having an electronic pump, which is killed when the key is turned off, meanwhile we use mechanical pumps, which are still spinning when the ecu is turned off, the capacitor is said to hold "4 seconds" of charge, should you have a voltage drop.
the orange hotrod coupe uses a noise filter, this is the only differance between my car and that car, my car shuts off "normal" when i shut the ecu switch off. meanwhile the other car runs on for a few seconds.(2-4)

when it ran, it ran well. id like to think of the problems with my car were with the condition of parts used in the shortblock, not neccisarily the tune up or electronics in the car.
junkyard wars FTW
im not sure what you mean by the 1st part ?
Edit, you saying the M ecu sees the same noise but is more resistant to it. so i look at it wrong, when i think it see 0 noise?

The original question had to do with noise interference on the S300, which is a very common problem. It's very hard to have noise interference on a Motec ecu.

yeah really, i have had mine (6al) for 6 years no issues,
BUT i am about to move it, so now all hell will break loose.
as cort, said i will be using shielded wires to the coil and from the dizzy.
mounting it on the trans tunnel (he hee trans tunnel) next to the console, and the ecu has already been moved to the glove box.

I guess I should have said that the analog systems (6a, 6aL, etc) belong in the round file.
I have not had any issues with cars that have the digital systems. Needless to say, I have also never found an advantage to using them, unless you like more wiring.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and mine is just based on my experiences with the products.

so if i get one of those noise filters, it should prevent interference with my msd and the ecu that is near it? Its only $40 but i know noise filters go a long ways.

sorry, i dont have any pictures of the setup installed... i wish i did.
but this is the noise filter, which inline with the main power and ground wires for the ign or ecu.
