Default Aftermarket tach problems

I installed a tach last night in my 95 dx coupe (flame away) and it seems that my engine redlines at 6000 rpm.. at least im afraid of going above that cuz its soo damn loud. is this normal and has anyone else seen the same thing?

well the stock redline for a d15b7 is 6800 and I have a Gude cam and ecu that allows it to go higher but it just seems that when it reads 6 it sounds like 7500????
