Tuning problem p28 s300
I have been looking at others people post about lack of power when hitting vtec but for some reason I have yet to find my problem. Here is what happens.
I accell with boost climbing to 5 lbs (set to 7lb cut) once I get to 5200 or so right were I set vtec cross. I get this nasty crasping from the engine ( which almost sounds like the waste gate) and power is reduced and boost stops building. Lambda is at this point .82-.85. Timing is reduced through boost control 1 degree per 1 lb of boost. Boost control is set on the s300 with the valve I received from the hondata dealer. Tial waste gate spring is the 5.5 psi and I have Tial 50mm blow off valve. Turbo is a T60-1 with a A/R of .82
Granted I have yet to get the car tuned , I have done the tuning myself. I did the tuning with the AEM wideband. At the moment I have the stock O2 running closed loop but the wide band is still installed monitoring lambda (3 O2 sensors). I tuned the car on the road while someone drove for me. The car runs great til that cross point. I have both vtec boxes checked. Is there someone that has had this issue.

I played with it today but I Increase the fuel trim which made no difference so it could be timing or I'm thinking vtec isnt kicking in.

I dont think your explaining yourself very well. Like what the hell is "crasping from the engine", Ive never heard of some describing a engine noise as crasping. In your data log it says your vtec is coming on, is it breaking up as soon as you hit vtec or does the revs keep climbing. As spunkster stated your tps doesnt get past 63% and your boost hits 18lbs (could be because you have it in absolute (whichever one it is). I would do what mtber said and also what is your plug gap at?
Let me explained it a little bit better. Once I hit 5200 rpms (vtec engaugement) the engine makes a raspy sound and seems to be starving for fuel but yet my wideband says .78 give or take. Boost is in between 4 and 6 lbs of boost. Rpms go a little higher but lose of power is massive. I don't understand why the log would say 18 lbs of boost the engine would blow up. I have the boost control cut off at 7 lbs. Come to think of it I did set map sensor to cut off at .5 or so boost to let the tps take control tell me if that needs to be changed. What is odd if that once i'm in 4 gear rpms climb but I don't hear the noise any longer , could be that I'm not pushing it as hard in 4th I'll have to look at that. I looking into if I had the boost controller vacume lines are reversed, I don't know if that would have anything to do with it. I'm still new to the datalogging so bear with me. Any suggestions would be great (yes I know it needs to be tune by some one that knows what they are doing) but I want to learn how to do it myself. I'm a little stubern. The first download I put up on Hondata site is my tune, if someone could look it over to see what I did wrong.

Just got this from phearable. Its the diagram for the boost controller.. It shows 2 vacume lines to the wastegate. But from what I have read the top vacume fitting is to be atmos. Am I wrong?

Im pretty new to this too, I just learned how to do these datalog things also. Where can I find your actual tune at. The only thing I saw was your two datalogs. Im not sure what you mean by this: Come to think of it I did set map sensor to cut off at .5 or so boost to let the tps take control tell me if that needs to be changed. It looks like the there's two vacuum lines off of the wg which is correct. Use the top one to the solinoid and the other to the mani, which has a tee back to the solinoid. Did you check for boost leaks and sync the dizzy to hondata, what about your plug gaps, and also just try running the wg off of the spring. Did you calibrate your tps? Have you tried pushing it in 4th? Oh and that was my s300 that was set to show absolute manifold pressure now Im looking at it and it doesnt seem your even going into boost. Slap me if Im completely wrong.

Its the first one the 2.4 mb
Before I change my WG vacume setup I need to know FOR SURE thats not going to blow my motor. The plugs gap are stock. No boost leaks that I can find. I'm not going to remove my WG spring. I didn't cal my TPS I figured Hondata has it set for stock TPS.

I believe you need to calibrate your tps and try just running it off of the wg without the boost controller, this will have it running at the stock spring pressure which you said was 7lbs. Did you sync the dizzy and s300? You also should gap your plugs down alittle.
So I downloaded it and can check your datalog out but how do I view your calibrations? I can see the other guys "itr 001 (i think)" calibrations but im not able to view yours.

Just put the first one in your smanager file were all the base maps are, then load it . Regard to running it with no boost control, (spring is a 5.5 not 7 , max boost is 7) I would be putting way too much boost on my engine which is stock. I hope to get a build engine next year but this engine has to last til then. What do you mean about sync the dissy with the s300? At the moment the timing is set from the base h22 map with -1 degree per lb of boost. I'll check the plugs this week but I don't think its that considering the engine performs great til 5200 rpm and idle is glass smooth.
Well I guess I have the wastegate vacume setup wrong. Tommorrow I'll set it up via that diagram.

Im at work right now and dont have access to the smanager but you go to set timing and put it at whatever stock should be then use a timing light and set the dizzy to the right spot then click ok on the smanager. You also need to calibrate the tps (not sure where its located on the smanager). 7lbs is not too much for a stock motor. If you dont close your gap up (it happened to me on 10lbs) the boost will "blow out" the spark usually right after vtec kicks in.
